Scope

ℹ️ This English version is a translation. The German version is legally binding.

These Terms and Conditions ("T&C") apply to all business relationships between the bike repair service Velov ("Velov") and its customers.

By using our services, commissioning a repair, purchasing a product or using our online booking portal, the customer accepts these T&C in the version then in force.

Services & mobile workshop

Velov offers mobile mechanical repairs, maintenance and assembly of bicycles (bikes, e-bikes, cargo bikes, children's bikes), including the initial assembly of newly delivered bikes in the city of Zurich and surroundings. We come exclusively by bike and cargo bike to our customers — not by car.

Scope of services (mechanical): brakes, gears, tires/tubes, wheel truing, chain/drivetrain, bearings, suspension, saddle/handlebars/seatpost, light wiring, mechanical mounting — for bikes, e-bikes and cargo bikes of all brands.

Explicitly out of scope: Velov is not officially certified and does not perform battery, motor, display, electronics or software/firmware diagnostics, repair or updates. Such work is reserved for the respective brand workshops. Commissioning Velov does not replace any manufacturer warranty.

The service includes inspection, maintenance and repair to the best of our knowledge and ability. Velov assumes no liability for defects resulting from inadequate maintenance by the customer, normal wear and tear, or material and products of other manufacturers.

As we are mobile, we cannot always carry every tool and spare part. It may happen that not every repair can be completed on site immediately. In such cases the trip flat fee and the work time already performed are still invoiced. Velov informs customers in advance about limitations where possible.

Further services: Besides repair and maintenance we offer bike disposal and collection as well as fleet and corporate service. The same terms apply; prices are on the respective page.

💡 Tip: Send us photos or videos of your bike on WhatsApp beforehand — that way we can pack the right parts and save you time and money.

Prices, trip costs & payment

The prices applicable to services and products are listed in Velov's price list. All prices are final prices. Velov is not registered for VAT; no VAT is charged or shown (Art. 27 Swiss VAT Act). Subject to change and typographical errors.

Trip flat fee: For each trip in the city of Zurich a flat fee of CHF 49 applies. This flat fee covers the first trip to the customer. For follow-up work or multiple trips, the trip from the second visit on is invoiced at the hourly rate of CHF 149. For places outside the city of Zurich a zone surcharge of CHF 25–45 applies depending on distance; it applies to packages and individual repairs. More distant locations on request.

Written estimate: A written on-site estimate costs CHF 59, half of which is credited when the repair is commissioned. An estimate is an approximate figure. If it becomes apparent during the work that it will be exceeded, we inform you beforehand and obtain your consent; without consent we carry out only the agreed scope. Prices shown as "from CHF …" or "according to effort" are guide values and are billed according to actual effort.

Payment: due upon completion of the service, unless agreed otherwise. Accepted payment methods: TWINT, cash, debit card, credit card, invoice.

Default: Invoices are payable within 30 days of the invoice date. After this period expires unused, the customer is in default without further reminder; default interest of 5% applies (Art. 104 CO). From the second reminder onwards a reminder fee of CHF 20 per reminder is charged.

4

Defects, rectification and manufacturer warranty

Velov carries out all work to the best of its knowledge and ability. If work we performed shows a defect, the customer is entitled to free rectification by Velov.

Joint inspection: Rectification requires that Velov can inspect the bike — where possible together with the customer. Without examining the bike, neither the cause can be established nor the defect meaningfully repaired.

Notice of defects: Obvious defects must be reported without delay (section 6), hidden defects within 10 days of their discovery. Otherwise the statutory periods of Swiss contract-for-work law apply (Art. 367 ff. CO).

Limits: Normal wear and tear (in particular brake pads, chains, sprockets, tyres and cables), improper use, crash or third-party impact, lack of maintenance by the customer and material or products of other manufacturers are not defects within the meaning of this section. Section 5 applies to parts supplied by the customer.

Further claims: If rectification fails twice, the customer may demand a reasonable reduction of the price. Further claims — in particular compensation for consequential damage, loss of use, rental bike costs or loss of earnings — are excluded to the extent permitted by law. Liability for gross negligence and wilful misconduct remains reserved in any case (Art. 100 CO).

Products and manufacturer warranty: For new and second-hand products, warranty claims are governed exclusively by the terms of the respective manufacturer. The customer asserts these directly with the manufacturer or seller; Velov supports them with all relevant information and receipts. Used bikes and parts are sold "as seen".

✨ Goodwill: Beyond what we owe, we are very accommodating on legitimate complaints. We find a fair, practical solution together with the customer — because our reputation and your satisfaction matter to us.

5

Liability

Velov is liable exclusively for damages caused by gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

For damages resulting from improper use, lack of maintenance by the customer, material defects, consequential or late damages, loss of use, rental bike costs, loss of earnings or other indirect damages, no liability is assumed — to the extent permitted by law.

Velov assumes no liability for parts, accessories or personal items brought along on the bike.

6

Acceptance of repair & notice of defects

After completion of the repair, the customer is obliged to inspect the bike without delay and to claim any obvious defects immediately.

By accepting and paying for the bike, the customer confirms that the repair was properly carried out. Later complaints about obvious defects are excluded.

As part of our goodwill practice, we remain open to dialogue even after acceptance — just contact us directly.

7

Delays and rescheduling

Velov endeavours to carry out all work within the agreed timeframes. In case of delays (e.g. weather, material shortages, illness) the customer will be informed as early as possible.

Rescheduling and cancellation are free of charge up to 2 hours before the scheduled appointment. After that — or if the bike is not ready at the agreed time (section 12) — we charge a missed-appointment fee of CHF 30.

8

Public reviews & responses

Velov welcomes open reviews and takes criticism seriously. We reserve the right to respond factually to public reviews and to set the record straight — in particular to describe the time frame, the specific job, the place of the work and the services performed, to the extent necessary for the correction.

No disclosure of personal data: In public responses we disclose no personal data about the reviewer — neither the full name nor address, contact details, payment or health data. This applies even where we consider an account to be inaccurate.

If we consider a review untrue or defamatory, we take the route provided for it: reporting it to the platform and, if necessary, legal steps — not naming the person publicly.

9

Data protection

Velov treats customer data confidentially and complies with the Swiss Data Protection Act (revFADP) and — where applicable — the EU GDPR.

Personal data is used only within the business relationship and is not passed to unauthorised third parties, unless this is necessary for contract fulfilment (e.g. payment service providers, suppliers) or required by law.

Which data we process, how long we keep it and what rights you have is set out in our privacy policy.

10

Applicable law and jurisdiction

These T&C and all legal relationships between Velov and the customer are exclusively subject to Swiss law, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) and conflict-of-law provisions.

Exclusive place of jurisdiction for all disputes in connection with these T&C is Zurich, Switzerland, unless mandatory legal provisions stipulate otherwise.

11

Final provisions

Should individual provisions of these T&C be or become invalid or unenforceable, the validity of the remaining provisions remains unaffected. The invalid provision shall be replaced by a regulation that comes closest to the economic purpose.

Velov reserves the right to amend these T&C at any time. The current version is available at velov.ch/agbs-velov-zuerich. For orders already in progress, the version valid at the time of the order applies.

Bike handover without you present, keys & access

Our service deliberately works without you being there: the bike is ready, we come, we fix it, and you get a photo once it is done. This section sets out who bears which risk (added July 2026).

Providing the bike: The customer places the bike at the agreed location and ensures it is freely accessible. Velov is not obliged to search for a bike, move it or open a lock. If the bike is not accessible at the agreed time, the trip flat fee under section 7 may be charged.

Risk while the bike is waiting: For as long as the bike waits for us unattended, or is left unattended after the work is done, the customer bears the risk of theft, vandalism and weather. Velov is liable exclusively for damage demonstrably caused during the work on the bike. We recommend locking the bike and giving us the code or key.

Keys and access codes: If the customer hands us keys or codes for the building, bike room or underground garage, we treat them confidentially, use them solely for the job and return or delete them afterwards. For keys deposited at a place chosen by the customer (e.g. milk box, letterbox), Velov accepts no liability.

Completion: The job counts as performed once the work is finished and we have informed the customer — normally by WhatsApp with a photo. Section 6 governs acceptance and notice of defects.
